Your smartphone's and tablet's web browser will likely be Flash-free in the future, if it isn't already.
Adobe Systems Inc. said Wednesday that it is ending its development of the Flash Player plug-in for mobile devices and will instead shift its resources and third-party partners to its Adobe AIR software and HTML5 technologies for interactive websites, apps and video playback.
Word of the shift away from Flash on mobile devices was first reported by the website ZDNet and later confirmed in a company blog post by Danny Winokur, Adobe's vice president of interactive development.

The IAEA report gave critics of Iran new details about their nuclear program, including evidence of computer modeling of nuclear explosions and technology to make triggers needed to detonate one.
he probe focuses on whether China Telecom and China Unicom, which account for two-thirds of Internet access in China, have used their position to hinder other players from entering the market, China Central Television (CCTV) said.
The powerful National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the nation's economic planner, has been investigating the firms since the first half of this year, said Li Qing, vice director of the commission's price supervision and anti-monopoly bureau.
"They are taking advantage of a dominant market position," she said.
If the allegations prove true, the state-owned firms could be fined one to 10 percent of the revenue they earn from providing Internet services, Li said.
She added that amounted to around 50 billion yuan ($7.9 billion) annually for China Telecom and 30 billion yuan a year for China Unicom.
Officials at the NDRC could not be reached for comment, while spokespeople for the companies didn't respond to phone calls.
The probe comes after research by a government think-tank criticised slow Internet speed and high service fees in China, the world's largest Internet market with over 500 million users, the CCTV report said.
The average speed of China's broadband services is less than one-tenth that of developed nations including the United States, Britain and Japan, according to the Advisory Committee for State Informatization, which operates under the State Council, or cabinet.
Meanwhile, fees charged by Internet access service providers are as much as three to four times those countries, it said.
China Telecom is the nation's top fixed-line operator while China Unicom is the second largest mobile telecom company after China Mobile.

It's one thing to wildly speculate about the next Xbox console. It's quite another to find out that Microsoft is gearing up to build one.
Recent job postings reveal that the Xbox Console Architecture team is hunting for new blood. Successful candidates will join a team that will be "responsible for defining and delivering next generation console architectures from conception through implementation."
ITProPortal also suggested in October 2011 that several employees were giving away their involvement on their LinkedIn profiles, such as "Xbox Next Gen Creative Director."
It also came to light in August 2011 that the next Xbox could actually overlap the Xbox 360's lifespan. That's according to an interview from Metro with Xbox's European head Chris Lewis.
According to reports in late October 2011, the next generation Xbox console will launch at E3 in 2013.
Develop claims to have been told by that multiple sources, from chip manufacturers to middleware firms, to expect the console to arrive at the gaming expo in June 2013.
So let's gather together the facts, the half-whispered untruths and the wishful thinking to see what such a machine might be like…

The next-generation iPhone “was the last project that Steve Jobs was intimately involved with from concept to final design. For that reason…this product will establish the high water mark for iPhone volumes,” informed Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, in his recent weekly research note. He further predicts the iPhone 5 to be a “cult classic” because of Jobs’ involvement.
The research note also goes on to describe the features of the anticipated iPhone. Kumar believes that the new iPhone will have a slimmer profile and larger screen size but with the same dimensions as the iPhone 4S (like the relatively-small 3.5-inch screen is not one of the 4S’ best features). He also predicts that the iPhone will have LTE, or Long Term Evolution which is often referred to as 4G.

The operating system accounted for 44 per cent of all app downloads in the second quarter of this year, a survey has revealed.
Apple only got 31 per cent across all of its platforms. The figures were published the day after the release of Steve Jobs’ biography.
In the book the Apple founder rails against the Android and brands it a ‘stolen product’ for its similarity to the iPhone operating system.
He also threatens to fight until his ‘last dying breath’ and go to ‘thermonuclear war’ to stop it being a success.
Last week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer also derided the operating system, saying you needed to be a 'computer scientist' to understand Android phones.
But a flood of low-priced handsets this summer has catapulted Android ahead of Apple for the first time in terms of app downloads.
It follows in the wake of reports that Samsung's Galaxy Android handsets had outsold iPhone during the last quarter.
